The webinar aims to gather concerned stakeholders to discuss challenges and ways forward for the protection of the rights of environmental defenders. The event is intended to be a platform to build action for the protection of environmental defenders across the region. Specifically, the event seeks: :
- To present the threats, challenges and issues, as well as current and future initiatives to protect the rights of environmental defenders in Southeast Asia, including in the context of SDG 16;
- To review previous recommendations and solutions to address these issues;
- To support the work being done by APNED, UNEP and EarthRights International.
