March 2, 2021 @ 4:30 pm - 5:30 pm UTC+1

Safe and sufficient water is one of the substantive components of the right to a safe, clean, healthy and sustainable environment. In addition, Sustainable Development Goal 6, provides for safe drinking water, sanitation and hygiene for all and its targets, including improving water quality through reducing pollution, increasing water-use efficiency and decreasing scarcity and protecting and restoring water-related ecosystems, are of vital importance for the realisation of human rights and ensuring a healthy environment. In this context, the report of the Special Rapporteur on human rights and the environment, Dr David Boyd, to the 46th session of the Human Rights Council (A/HRC/46/28) zooms in on human rights and associated obligations related to water pollution, water scarcity and water-related disasters.
