Call for Art!

1.7 million children lose their lives every year as a result of avoidable environmental impacts.

Governments must be held accountable and recognize our right to a healthy environment now.

From 28 May – 12 June 2021 we are inviting people to create and send us their own art that envisions a healthy environment for children. It will be shared online and with Human Rights Council Members while they meet to make our message loud and clear: Every child deserves to live in a safe, clean, healthy, and sustainable world.

The Human Rights Council is one of the United Nations institutions responsible for ensuring our human rights are protected. On 23 February, as the Human Rights Council met for their 46th session, people from around the world shared nearly 4,000 messages on Twitter demanding a healthy environment for all. This led to over 60 governments endorsing a statement calling for the human right to a healthy environment to be internationally recognized.

This was a historic moment, but we must continue to keep up the pressure for more countries to join! As the Human Rights Council convenes for their 47th session, from 21 June- 9 July, we need to once again remind them that we can no longer wait for our right to a healthy environment to be recognized.

Join us in sending a message to the Human Rights Council that every child’s right to a healthy environment must be recognized!

This is an initiative of the MY PLANET MY RIGHTS campaign, a global movement of over 66,000 advocates worldwide calling on governments to recognize children’s right to a healthy environment.
