Invitation to online consultation > Too Dirty, Too Little, Too Much: The Global Water Crisis and Human Rights

15.09.20

The Special Rapporteur on human rights and the environment, Dr. David Boyd, is working to provide additional clarity regarding the substantive rights and obligations that are essential to the enjoyment of a safe, clean, healthy and sustainable environment.

He has submitted reports on clean air, a safe climate, and a healthy biosphere, as well as good practices on the implementation of the right to a safe, clean, healthy and sustainable environment.

He is now preparing a thematic report that will be presented to the Human Rights Council in March 2021 focusing on human rights, the environment and associated obligations related to water pollution, water scarcity and floods.

To assist in his efforts, he is hosting a series of online consultations to gather input from rights holders and other stakeholders. The formal call for inputs, including ten questions, is available here. We would need any written inputs by 10 November 2020.

To maximize the possibility of attendance for persons from different regions, we will be hosting four sessions at different times on September 16. Please contact srenvironment@ohchr.org to sign up for one of the virtual consultations in order for us to guarantee access.
